The password keeper
This picture is a lot cuter than my password keeper, but it shows the general idea.
Not very often, well never, do I have any innovative fresh ideas. Until today. Well actually, I had the idea over 6 years ago and implemented it, but never shared it until today.
So here it is. I have logins/passwords for about 2 million websites that I visit. Well, maybe closer to a hundred, but still. I always had a dilemma on how to keep them in a safe place for easy reference. I created a Microsoft Excel Worksheet secretly labeled "Passwords" :) and could reference it at the touch of a button. However, I have been one of the unfortunate many whose computers have crashed over the years. So, I came up with Plan B.
I have a lot of business cards that I don't need anymore (change of jobs, new phone numbers etc) that are hanging around in my desk drawer. I took a chunk of these useless business cards and gave them a rebirth. I punched a hole in the upper left hand corner (looking at the front of the card) of these cards and took a car key ring and strung them all together (if you are right handed, do the opposite). I then wrote on the back of the cards (blank side) impertinent information:
Date - this will come in handy if you keep this key ring for a long time. Some passwords expire after nonuse.
Website - usbank.com
Login ID - BDBARNETTE
Password - CTr12Y56g
Purpose - if it isn't obvious. Because I have 2 businesses, Gram's information, and my personal home stuff, I indicate who/what it's for.
Then, whenever I need to remember a password, it's all in one place! Safe from harm.
