Time off
In case you didn't know, Gram's has been gone. On March 10th, I took her to the emergency room at Southwest Washington Medical Center. She was scheduled for a kyphoplasty (back procedure) on the 12th, but she AND I could no longer handle her pain. We thought it best that she spend the 2 days in the care of the doctors rather than lil' ole inadequate me. After the surgery on the 12th, she was healed! Literally! She had very little back pain and best of all, seemed to be more coherent! I decided that a rehabilitation center would be best for her, so on March 14th, she went to Fort Vancouver Convalescent Center and is still there. It has been a wonderful facility! She has thrived! They have her walking up to 50 feet a day and is working on her speech, helping her swallowing mechanisms, and her physical therapy of daily activities (bathing, toiletting etc). It has been awesome! Now granted, she wants to come home, and I don't blame her. But for the 2 weeks that she has been away, I have gotten so much done! It's incredible! I never really realized how much I can get done when I don't have to worry about someone being with Gram's 24/7. Barry and I have even been sleeping at our house - a true luxury!
